Bruce and Sue Watson own two Home Hardware stores in Oshawa. Their second store (opened last year) can be found at 600 Grandview St. S., just down the street from Grandview Children’s Centre’s main site.
When Bruce and Sue opened their second store, they knew right away that they wanted to align themselves with a community charity that was all Canadian and local. They decided to support Grandview Kids!
“Sue and I really wanted to give back to other parents who may be struggling through different situations,” says Bruce.
As well as undertaking in-store initiatives that promote and benefit Grandview Kids, they have also signed up as Golf Fore Grandview sponsors for the last two years.
Since becoming friends of Grandview, Bruce and Sue have realized that Grandview Kids has a much bigger impact of their community than they could have imagined. Their reaction from their customers to in-store initiatives benefitting Grandview Kids has been incredible. According to Bruce, “100% have been pleased that we are offering this support!”
Bruce and Sue’s stores have remained open during recent challenging times and they have been helping people get the supplies they need to keep busy while staying at home. As a business owner, and Durham resident for the past 25 years, Bruce feels that it is important for independently-owned stores like his to contribute to local services like Grandview.
“Supporting places like Grandview makes our entire community stronger!” he says.
With our Golf Tournament postponed until next year, Bruce and Sue have stepped up to help purchase headsets that will allow Grandview therapists to provide therapy from home.
We thank them for this generous contribution which will go a long way toward helping our kids during this time.
