When Danielle was only 18-months-old, her mom Donna noticed that her legs had turned in and she wasn’t walking. Donna took her to Grandview Kids, where she met with a pediatrician as well as a speech therapist, physiotherapist, and occupational therapist. Daniella was soon diagnosed with cerebral palsy and from that day forward, was at Grandview with her mom almost weekly.
Daniella’s therapist at Grandview encouraged her to get involved with several new activities like swimming and also, sledge hockey, which she became very passionate about.
Daniella is now 15 and is playing sledge hockey each winter with the Durham Steelhawks. She even tried downhill skiing last year! She’s just started grade 10 and absolutely loves being in high school and is preparing for her future career goal of becoming a teacher.
