It’s a beautiful image. Grandview Kid, Brooklyn, clad in a miniature pilot uniform and working her way across an airport tarmac. Standing by his plane waiting for her, was enthusiastic entrepreneur and inspiring philanthropist, Mr. Howard Humphrey.
That day, Howard would help Brooklyn live her dream of being a pilot when he brought her up for an exhilarating ride in the sky. It’s an event that will be forever memorialized in a touching Grandview Kids commercial (you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yjl2KsUhyCE).
On December 15th, 2020, this beautiful soul
was taken from us much too soon.
Howard’s desire to help Brooklyn live her dream was a perfect example of some of the key personal attributes for which he will be lovingly remembered: caring, giving, and innovative.
Howard loved people and he loved life. After coming from England to Canada as a younger man, he created a company that spanned borders and established him as one of Durham Regions most successful businessmen. He lived a full life, led by his love of planes, yachts and cars and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to thousands, as well as a generous philanthropist to many organizations.
This includes Grandview Kids, as Howard, along with his wife Stephanie, have been our ardent supporters over the years. Among many other contributions, their company, MTC FACTORY OUTLET, was a major sponsor of our Pure Imagination Gala for several years and provided countless prizes to support many Grandview Kids fundraising events, including our annual Golf Fore Grandview Kids tournament.
Howard’s on-going desire to support the well-being and success of children and youth in our region was an inspiration to all who knew him. He leaves behind a strong legacy to Grandview Kids and many other charities in Durham Region. We are all so thankful for his caring and selfless contributions over the years, and will always remember the incredible role he played in helping kids to live life to their full potential.
Thank you, Howard. We will all miss you greatly. We promise that your immense contributions to Grandview Kids will never be forgotten.
