WHY COMMUNITY SUPPORT MATTERS
Grandview Children’s Centre is one of 21 specialized independent treatment centres funded by the province.
However, that funding does not meet demand. This means we depend on donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals to help Durham kids with special needs and their families.
Without donations and support, the specialized programs that are making the most difference to Grandview Kids and families would not be possible. In 2016/2017 we helped close to 6,000 kids and families. While we were providing assessment and treatment to these kids, the number of kids on the waiting list grew to almost 3,000 by year’s end.
This is frustrating and heartbreaking to all of us, the kids, and their families. It’s undeniable that early assessment and treatment has an immediate and powerful effect on these young lives.
Estimates show that by 2031 there will be over 10,000 kids and families in Durham who need Grandview Children’s Centre services. Based on our experience, we expect that there will be far more.
